Hazzard's Today
The modern Captain Henry Hazzard's Company is a very active re-enactment group, with at least two large events each summer, a number of smaller Living history and skirmish weekends in between, the occasional foreign excursion, and we bookend our season with working weekends where the guns are repaired and painted.
There are many roles within our company to suit every skill level. It is a great group for expanding your knowledge of history, or to learn one of the many skills required in firing and maintaining artillery.

Ranks on the field
The Gunner
The person in charge of an artillery piece on the field, responsible for the safety of the gun and its crew.
This person will have a firearms or shotgun licence for the piece.
The Matross
The more experienced members of the crew, who work the tasks involving gunpowder.
These members will have licences to use explosives.
The Labourers
The newer members of the crew who perform the important tasks of worming out and sponging the gun between shots.
These members will be gaining skills and working towards obtaining licences.
The Firelocks
The detachment of musketeers guarding the artillery battery.
A mix of firing musketeers, and trainees using dummy muskets to learn the postures.

The Greater Society
Hazzard's is one of four companies within the Trayne of Artillery.
Above that level is the Roundhead Association, which has many regiments within its ranks.
This forms the Parliamentarian army within the English Civil War Society.
And as all heroes need a villain to defeat we have our friends and enemies; The King's Army who make up the other half of the English Civil War Society.
